A letter for Barack
Dear Mr. Obama, 26th of October, 2009
These days it has been commented what you are trying to do with the Arctic oil. I think that drilling the offshore in the zone will be a huge impact on the biodiversity. That is why the environmental organizations are against the project.
The environment represents one of the most important treasures that we have. We should make an effort to protect it as we protect other things like peace, culture, etc. Surely all of these aspects have a very intimate relation. As much as we give example of respectful activities related to environment, as much as our children will learn to enjoy with nature. We should preserve something that our future generations have the right to enjoy on.
The government of the United States of America is about to approve a permission for drilling the offshore of the Arctic. This will create a serious damage to the Arctic zone and all the people living there. The Inuit people have been living there for hundreds of years. Their fishing labours will be seriously in danger.
Let’s talk about animals. Some species like walruses, ice seals or bowhead whales will be affected by the drilling activities. Those species could come to a serious danger of extinction, if they are not.
That is because the project has to be cancelled as soon as possible.
Yours sincerely,
PGM
